Springfield is a small rural town in the foothills of the Southern Alps in Canterbury, New Zealand. It has a population of approximately 400 and is recognised by many as the Gateway to the Southern Alps.
Situated less than an hour from the center of Christchurch on State Highway 73 (The Great Alpine Highway), Springfield boasts many attractions on its doorstep including:

- Castle Hill rock climbing and bouldering
- Walking and tramping tracks to suit all abilities
- Mountain biking
- Several ski fields
As the last stop for food and petrol before heading towards the majestic West Coast, this picturesque small town is a must stop for everyone.
